ABOUT US
Boys' 91 is an association of the students of Siliguri Boys' High School (SBHS), those appeared for the std X level exam in the year 1991.
As it happens, the friends splitted and scattered over to pursue their individual goals. Cities changed, mentality changed, perspective towards life changed, so changed schools of thought and belief. There came new schools, new disciplines, new groups of friends but every individual has saved a piece of SBHS in a corner of their heart. There was always the yearning to find out the long lost friends. To re-group and once again to become friends with 198 boys was a common dream.
In 1999, the boys met for the first time at the school ground for a re-union. It was the morning of the last day of the Durga Puja, Bijoya Dashami. The school boys had turned into full grown, responsible professional, each to prove himself at his own field of work. Their looks changed as changed their outlook towards the world. The innocent schoolboys of the yesteryear's have become tough fighters in life with their own designations and domains. But once inside the school all the masks dropped, the child in each came out. In a flash all were taken to their school days. It was as if nothing happened in between, back with all naughtiness and mischief. They exchanged addresses, phone numbers and promised to meet again next year.
Since 1999, every year on the morning of Bijoya Dashami the boys met informally and on 23rd February, 2003 the association of these boys were formally named BOYS’ 91, because that was how they were popularly known in the city.
Now they meet on every Sasthi or Saptami of Durga Puja with their families in the school premises and arrange a welfare activity with the less privileged kids of the society and have lunch all together. They also keep meeting on every Bijoya Dashami, and are determined to find out and keep track of each of the 198 batchmates.
Hence, it follows. Every year on Bijoya Dashami they assemble at the school ground, 11 in the morning.
